That page has a field called Other time:. It is an input box. When the interface is Hebrew, the default value of that box is still in English: infinite. I asked at translatewiki.net whether it can be localized. Raymond said that it's complicated and requires a more thorough solution (link: http://translatewiki.net/wiki/Thread:Support/unlocalized_default_value_for_a_field_in_Special:Stabilization ) (NB: This report refers to the version of FlaggedRevs which is currently installed in the Hebrew Wikisource. I think that it is a vanilla installation that reflects the defaults, at least as far as this page is concerned, but it may have some modifications.) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l
[Bug 27629] New: List of authors
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27629 Summary: List of authors Product: MediaWiki Version: 1.15.2 Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: blocker Priority: Normal Component: History/Diffs AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org ReportedBy: hofm...@aldebaran.cz There is no independent list of authors for each article in Mediawiki. I consider this to be a showstopper since exporting the list of authors from history causes that: 1) also vandals and others users who added nothing into the article are listed, and 2) external authors cannot be credited in a standard way. Both points are severe problems which lead to unsolvable license problems when importing stuff into Wikipedia articles and also some wikipedians refuse to improve the article because they don't want to be listed altogether with people who destroy their work. The problem is very visible when exporting the articles from Mediawiki, for example into pdf documents. On the other hand I feel this can be fixed relatively easily. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. The parser cache gets corrupted, because Linker::tocList() uses wfMsgHtml for the toc title rather than using the language from ParserOptions. The attached patch will fix the issue by adding a $lang parameter to Linker::tocList and using it from Parser::formatHeadings(). This patch adds a new inline query output format to the core which produces a link to the query's equivalent Special:Ask page, much the same as the “further results” link. Use cases are to create additional “further results” links that use different output formats (eg calendar or event line for blogs), or to link to a query that shows all pages with a particular property on that property — think delicious/technorati style blog tags. The code is pretty simple; it just copies paramaters straight into a link object for display, using the linkformat parameter to set the actual format of the linked-to search page. The patch was made between 1.5.5.1 and current SVN, but I stripped any irrelevant changes between them, especially in the messages code. Needs a help page; I'll write one if you want to use the patch. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

Virtually all images on Flickr are untagged or have terrible auto-numbered titles or other characteristics that make them useless to the rest of the web. So IMO there legitimately can be at least a few paragraphs of help, for instance, on how to make a good title, and how to avoid common mistakes. There are a lot of things on Commons with titles like Head shot 001.jpg and it's impossible for software to detect this is totally useless. Even if it was possible to summarize all the best advice in a few lines of pop-up help, our theory was that there should be an outlet for those in the community who want to write such guides, and there are some minority of uploaders who want to read them. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=24691 --- Comment #7 from Ryan Kaldari rkald...@wikimedia.org 2011-02-22 19:11:04 UTC --- Yes, but making the interface annoying to accommodate the people who want to write a 5 volume help text doesn't seem sensible to me. The 'minefield' interface argument is usually used when discussing an over-abundance of pop-up menus or pop-up ads (which are both persistent). If you have lots of pop-up menus and pop-up ads scattered across the page, it can be difficult and annoying to get rid of them all so that you can actually see/use the page content. Although this case is not as extreme, it's the same principle. Persistent pop-up anything can be annoying, and since we're moving the pop-up help to be next to the labels, the help text is probably going to be overlapping the textareas in at least some cases. Imagine the user moving their cursor across the page to get to the textarea. In the process they accidentally activate the help text next to the label. The help text stays open even after they have traversed the help icon since the bubble is overlapping the textarea. They then try to click on the textarea, but instead just click the help bubble, or worse, activate the help link by accident. The help bubbles then become annoying mosquitoes that you have to swat away by temporarily moving your cursor to another location. Do you have any examples of situations in which we would actually need this? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27446 --- Comment #2 from Brion Vibber br...@pobox.com 2011-02-22 20:34:32 UTC --- I don't _think_ it should be legit to have this char at beginning/end of a title, as zero-width space is meant to be used as a separator to disable ligatures etc, and only makes sense within a span of non-whitespace characters. In the middle of words, it may actually be required for some languages. Correct behavior is _probably_ to strip this char from beginning/end during title normalization, while preserving it in the middle of words. Once that's done, a run of cleanupTitle co should pretty transparently correct existing titles. I would recommend double-checking the definitions and actual usage to make sure these assumptions are correct before changing rules, however. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. Use document.write to include JS. 2. Use document.write (not in onload!) to create dynamic CSS. Example script attached. There's no attachment. I know what you think about document.write, but the bottom line is that it used to work and it was a valid usage. If there is a workaround for that then I'm not aware of it. document.write isn't necessarily evil, there are cases in which its use its warranted. ResourceLoader itself uses it, even. However, RL will have broken many usages of document.write that previously used to work. https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27452 --- Comment #1 from Brion Vibber br...@pobox.com 2011-02-22 21:04:09 UTC --- The PHP warning message here indicates an exception (or possibly some other error, but I can definitely reproduce it with an exception) in the callback function to array_map() -- this seems to happen even if the exception is caught, which is pretty lame. The only array_map() call here is to $this-formatItem(), so most likely something in there or in the many things called from there had an error. There should have been a separate log line for errors or exceptions in there, which might make it rather easier to track down the specific issue. Without that there may be nothing too specific to look at if nothing pops out; if this is a frequent error rather than a one-off, consider adding some debug logging around it, possibly a try/catch which can add logging if an exception is indeed being thrown in there. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l
