The default should be to show all languages. At [[Wikipedia:User_experience_feedback]] many people expressed their dissatisfaction with their hiding. As i said in the first description, it's good to let people hide all the links if they don't want to see them. It also makes sense to let people show languages in the order they want or to show a short number of languages that are useful to them. I would like to draw attention to problems with the interface of FlaggedRevs. About one and a half years ago, when we enabled on pl.wiki FlaggedRevs there was one main idea - we want fight vandalism, but do not exercise editorial control. Moreover, Polish community by introducing FlaggedRevs was convinced for this tool because of the *neutral* vocabulary. There existed keywords like sighted, review, mark... Now you introduce new keyword like checked, approve. I am afraid that this is a very bad idea because many people will think that Wikipedia is controlled by certain people. I would like to call on you to once again reconsider the changes in the interface. Please, do not forget about other major projects when you try to enable FR on en.wiki. [Bug 23597] Vector breaks display of ===head===
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23597 --- Comment #5 from Aryeh Gregor simetrical+wikib...@gmail.com 2010-05-21 14:48:02 UTC --- The general problem is bug 7356. This is why *all* new id's should be prefixed with mw-. head is not a new id, of course, so it didn't follow this policy. Prefixing with mw- means collision by accident is very unlikely, and if it does happen, we can force user-added id's to not start with mw- by adding some extra prefix. There are still lots of other ways to get id conflicts, of course, like == Title == == Title == == Title 2 == or just span id=foo/spanspan id=foo/span. There are various bugs open for this, but in general, avoiding all duplicate id's is impractical. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23597 --- Comment #7 from Aryeh Gregor simetrical+wikib...@gmail.com 2010-05-21 17:51:00 UTC --- Oh, that's right, it is a new id. In my opinion, it should simply be changed to column-one like Monobook. Was column-one a good choice of id? No. Is it the one we've been using for five years? Yes. The contents don't match exactly, but put it this way: if you use column-one, some scripts and styles that affect column-one will break. If you use head, then *all* scripts and styles that affect column-one will break. Seems like a pretty clear tradeoff to me. But I've said this before. If Vector really wants its own id for this, at least do mw-head. Not only are no conflicts likely, it's also much more greppable. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

[Bug 23621] New: Diff two pages
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23621 Summary: Diff two pages Product: MediaWiki Version: 1.17-svn Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Keywords: need-review, patch Severity: enhancement Priority: Normal Component: History/Diffs AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org ReportedBy: hart...@videolan.org Created an attachment (id=7393) -- (https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/attachment.cgi?id=7393) add difftopage option On the english wikipedia we have long since had the desire to create an easy diff between a Template and its Sandbox page. At the moment this is pretty hard, because you can only diff two specific revisions if you want to diff between two pages. We currently use a JS to find those revisions and make the diff. I made a quick patch that adds a difftopage option, to diff between the title= and difftopage= The following works: page1: r5 and r4 page2: r50 and r49 http://localhost/index.php?title=page1difftopage=page2 Creates a diff between the most recent versions of the two pages, page1 left and page2 on the right http://localhost/index.php?title=page1difftopage=page2oldid=4 Creates a diff between rev 4 of page1 and rev 50 of page2 on the right http://localhost/index.php?title=page1difftopage=page2oldid=4diff=49 Creates a diff between rev 4 of page1 and rev 49 of page2 on the right The following may be unexpected however by users: http://localhost/index.php?title=page1difftopage=page2diff=49 Creates a diff between rev 50 of page2 and rev 49 of page2 on the right. This is because if diff= specified and oldid is not, it is used as oldid instead, thus title= becomes irrelevant. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. This is independent of your browser cache. Usually this doesn't lag too much (especially on popular pages), but sometimes it can get a little out of date. Doing an action=purge on the page will usually help resolve it too. Seeing a revision that is ancient (years?) old is unlikely, but could happen. [Bug 23611] Arrow down doesn't put highlighted suggestion text in search box in SimpleSearch
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23611 --- Comment #5 from Amir E. Aharoni amir.ahar...@mail.huji.ac.il 2010-05-21 21:34:43 UTC --- (In reply to comment #4) (In reply to comment #3) When i edit an article, i need to decide whether to add an internal link to it or not. If the target article exists, i shall probably add the link. To check whether the target article exists, i can start typing its name in the search box, then go down to it with the arrow and then copy its exact title to the editing field. This use case is not very realistic in a Vector environment: the link dialog (link button in toolbar) has title suggestions as well. Lovely! I didn't notice it. (I'm probably too used to typing the brackets and the pipe myself.) But as i wrote, this is useful not just for links. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l
