I think using the contents of MediaWiki:default-sort would allow greater
flexibility. The default could be set to {{FULLPAGENAME}}, and individual
projects could modify accordingly.
Two examples of how this could allow for greater flexibility are

# different default sorts depending on the type of category

You can check this out on pl.wiki (the link is 'Stary układ stron'/'Nowy układ stron'). Of course messages would have to be translated, but you seem to figured out how to translate various messages for JavaScript. As of 17th we had only one feedback complain and quite weak too and nothing about the search box. So this seems to be working for now :-). How do you see this being incorporated in the Vector skin exactly? As a quick switch link at the top (as it is on pl.wiki). Well this basically comes down to wether we want MediaWiki anchors, or URI
anchors. Didn't we recently add a mode to {{urlencode}} that allows you to
choose between encoding modes ? Perhaps that is wanted here as well.

Anna is non-autoconfirmed while Belle and Charlie are reviewers. - Anna makes an edit to a page configured for pending changes. - Belle and Charlie both go to review the edit. - Belle finishes first, using the undo feature, causing the page to be reverted and automatically accepted. - Charlie performs an edit on the page to restore the article to the original version (effectively the same as a revert), and chooses the review pending changes to accept his own change. - The software recognizes that Charlie's edit was identical to Belle's so it auto-resolves the conflict by not creating an edit. When this happens, Anna's change gets marked as reviewed by Charlie. What was supposed to have happened was Charlie's change would be reviewed by Charlie, but his edit doesn't exist (it is instead replaced by the automatically accepted change by Belle). I think a more appropriate action in this situation would be to have no review done (silently would be OK I think) because the review was already done on the correct revision (just automatically). Naturally, the outcome is still the same in that the page is reverted and the newest revision is accepted, but the history gets a little strange by saying an edit was accepted and then reverted. (It doesn't say that anymore in the example I gave above because I went back and revoked the acceptance.) The rest comes from somewhere else, I assume from the standard messages of one's browser. This, however, has disadvantages. The first one is that the message then can't be changed to the common conventions of the localizations. For example, in German, they use a formal form, whereas it's a long-time convention to use the unformal form. This then leads to inconsistencies. I'm sure there are also other languages where localization standards can't be met due to this. The second problem is that then sometimes multilingual messages appear. If I edit the English Wikipedia with my German browser and then leave the edit window with unsaved changes, then there's first a German warning, then an English one, and then again a German one. This is confusing and not really good. It should be completely in the wgContentLanguage of the wiki. The third thing is that wikis then can't completely customize this message if they want to. flexibility. The default could be set to {{FULLPAGENAME}}, and individual
projects could modify accordingly.

The page displays a single line of text, and the rest of the page is broken, almost as if the css file is faulty. For example, the Read, Edit, View History and Search bar all appear at the bottom of the page. The only way I've found to remedy the problem is to do a further search for Stanley O'Toole within Wikipedia (rather than using a different search engine). For example, the page you linked to in your opening post looked fine to me from the beginning I read this bug. The version you saw in the cache was this: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Stanley_O%27Tooleoldid=366630808 So there is no porblem with content being partially displayed. Let's try again. Let's assume you want to search for Pablo. You type Pablo. For some reason (insert your realistic scenario here), the mouse gets moved and it ends up selecting Pablo Picasso. The text box keeps showing Pablo, which is expected and correct. Now you hit ENTER, intending to search for Pablo. However, the text box suddenly changes to Pablo Picasso from under your feet, and that's where you end up. This is in my opinion not expected and not correct. Although admittedly probably not catastrophic, it doesn't look like a difficult one to fix: Enter = always go where the text box says, ignore drop-down selection. Note that if user selects a suggestion via keyboard up/down keys, it will still work as expected.
