RE: [WISPA] rita damage
Just heard from Johnny (Mr. O). He's had a lot of cat-5 pulled out of routerboards, etc up towers. They're running around tomorrow climbing / assessing / pulling EQ. I think he's got a main connection, still, but he's not sure for how long... Water's contaminated, roads are flooded, lots of roofs gone... More later when I can hook up with him again. Re: [WISPA] Rita
JohnnyO...we need to know who any providers are around you, addresses, towns served, etc. It sounds like you have a viable staging area. We need to work to make sure we are ready to help when this gets done beating you up. What are your coordinates or at least the street address. How can we contact you best? Do you have access to Ham Radio gear? Two way radios? You may very well be in a dangerous place and need assistance immediately from the location you have described. Let us know everything we can to make sure we can you help you first then help others second. At least let us have your cell number. We will need to talk after the storm has passed. Thanks dude and hang tight, Scriv JohnnyO wrote: Marlon - plan on staging here - We are 13 miles inland - 17ft above sea level - We will have power / water on-site - rounding up a 2nd generator as we speak. Re: [WISPA] Rita
There are about 100 or so unrelated group efforts (none any more powerful or better than the other) all doing fine in bringing immediate access to technology and communications without having Part-15 speak for them in the gulf area and without any firm structural centralized management so it really does not make any difference to me one way or the other whether Part-15 is involved in this with us or not. I think Part-15 is doing really good things. I know we are too. That does not mean we have to answer to them for every step or run anything past them before we act. Nor does it mean I have issues working with them directly on helping. I applaud their efforts along with the other 99 or so groups helping out down there. If it helps then do it. Long story shortif you want to "mesh" with Part-15 then go right ahead. I am not telling you or anyone else what to do to help. We are all adults and can help however, whenever, with whoever we see fit. As long as you are helping then that is good. Scriv Mark Koskenmaki wrote: How does all this mesh with the P-15 people? Cool. Who knows where things will really end up. What's the gps location for where you'd want people/things if it comes to that? Probably address too. I don't think I can make it down. We did too much new stuff this year and I can't take care of myself right now. If it's really bad I can try though. Hopefully there will be people from the region that can make it in. Might be tough with two of them back to back, two weeks apart. laters Marlon (509) 982-2181 Equipment sales (408) 907-6910 (Vonage)Consulting services 42846865 (icq)And I run my own wisp! 64.146.146.12 (net meeting) www.odessaoffice.com/wireless www.odessaoffice.com/marlon/cam - Original Message - From: "JohnnyO" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "'WISPA General List'" Sent: Thursday, September 22, 2005 10:46 AM Subject: RE: [WISPA] Rita Marlon - Lake Arthur, Louisiana - home of apgwireless.com - we'll be just to the east side of the storm when she hits...
