Making that modification would likely take the radios out of certification. Maybe I am getting this wrong, but isn't Kurt just trying to do this https://www.lastmilegear.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=44products_id=366 Basically modify Canopy? What is so wrong with that? Hey Kurt. I am curious. What are you soldering and why/purpose? Can't you get connectorized and attach an omni? Why solder? Steve, I could not have said it better myself. Thank you, Dawn Steve Stroh wrote: The big difference is that Last Mile Gear is MOTOROLA authorized to do such modifications, and THEY have had THEIR modifications FCC certified. Even so, it has to be built before it can be certified. We'll just have to assume that this is for testing and he'll have Moto's and the FCC's approval before he uses it. Because like you said, this is not a place where we talk about breaking the FCC rules. I know I wouldn't want the FCC enforcement team tracking me down. RE: [WISPA] soldering radio's
I am officially cancelling this thread. Illegal modification of radios is not a topic that needs to be discussed on WISPA list servs. I suggest Kurt work directly with Motorola with his plans of modification. If he feels he has a good idea, he should consult with a patent attorney as well as the FCC. He may have some good ideas that may result in a better product, but this is not the place to discuss it. Anyone wishing to discuss this more, take it offlist.
