Ah, thanks Rimantas - last time I checked (a couple of weeks ago), the 0.7.6
version for Mac wasn't there, only the older 0.6.2 version (which definitely
doesn't work with FF1.5).

I upgraded and so far I'm happy with it. :)

I did notice one thing right off the bat. I have one of those snow 
falling java scripts on my personal blog (I don't normaly use those 
types of java scripts on my sites.. and never on a business site), and 
the snow falls more smoothly in FF 1.5. It's not something anyone else 
would really notice, but since I go to my personal blog several times a 
day I noticed right away that the snow looks much better.

i don't think it actually ignores the second center... it just reads your body's height as 0px. Notice that if you have 'center top' it shows all of your background image, but with 'center center', it only shows half, as the background image has been vertically centered at 0px.

Firefox 1.5 is correct according to css2.0. Firefox 1.07 was buggy in 
this.

The rendering you're seeing is because the body of the page has zero height
(a quirks mode behaviour, I suspect). Firefox isn't ignoring the second
center at all.

Simply typing this into the address bar fixes your layout:

javascript:alert(document.getElementsByTagName('body')[0].style.height='100%
');

Set the height property of the body to 100% in your CSS to get the desired
rendering. Or as I mentioned previously, make your page valid HTML instead
of just a couple of disembodied tags.

I installed 1.5 with 1.07 already installed, it just upgraded
without fuss and without questions/dialogs. I too got the dialog
about my extensions, it offered to check for updates. The web
dev toolbar was upgraded seamlessly, but my often used ViewEXIF
extension ended up disabled and there are no compatible upgrades.

When I upgraded cleanly from 1.0.x to 1.5b (I got rid of 1.0.7
entirely) there was an upgrade dialog that came up and automated
upgrading my extensions. I didn't have to do anything to my web dev
extension.

I knew they were 8 days ago when it was announced among the Mozilla
developers that the release of 1.5 was expected to be no more than
renaming 1.5rc3. I've been running the 1.5 branch releases since they
were initially released as 1.5b1.

I did not install web dev in rc3, only in 1.0.7. I use two Firefox
profiles, one for the latest release, in which I have the latest web dev
installed, and one for some newer non-release version in which I never
install any extensions of any kind, that I have been using with the
pre-release 1.5's.

So, the question remains, does a release version profile with web dev
installed work without doing anything special when upgrading the release
version from 1.0.x to 1.5?

What I don't understand is why was this implemented as a new element. Shouldn't 
it be an Object?

From looking at the spec, it seems to pretty much replicates the capabilities 
of SVG, but using JavaScript instead of markup. Why not just use SVG, and use 
JavaScript + DOM if you want to add things dynamically?

Now, a funny note. Firefox 1.5 has a new feature (under the help menu) 
called Report a Broken Web Site. I wanted to see what it was like so I 
clicked on it. Within the tool there is a link to a Mozilla Privacy 
Policy, but it's a dead link. A broken site? Just thought it was amusing.

Yes. I just installed 1.5 into the 1.07 folder and of the 20 extensions
I have installed only 3 didn't update or function.

If you already have RC3 installed then you don't need to install this 
(as they are the same).


The web developer toolbar has and update that works with 1.5
