work with every day we can usually separate them with little effort.
For example, which foreground and background colors you use for a
website featuring construction equipment are irrelevant to the
product content at hand. The colors might well be relevant to the
client if they echo the corporate palette, but not worthy of bringing
to the attention of a screen-reader or search engine -- except in
those cases where the cosmetic design is brought to the foreground in
an article on corporate communication or web design.)

Hmm. I guess you mean it was better before when there was more
indentation of the sub-list than there is now?

Two problem areas,
1. when navigating the portfolio page, changing from "odilon redon" to
"yar laakso", "dolphin’s back" is being displayed. All the other
selections look correct. A simple typo in the menu structure I think.

Yikes! Good catch. I will correct it.

2. Again on the portfolio page, selecting a 'view full-page' closes
your initial short view and gives the full picture, if you again click
'view full-page', the full view closes but does not reinstate the
short view, leaving an almost blank page that needs a second click to
get back to a visible item. Might it be better to simply toggle the
two states so that the page always has one of the two options visible.

I will change this so that one image is /always/ visible.

I like the elegancy of the site, but think that Navigation is slightly
confusing. I also wasnt' sure where I am - Home or About? You are
having two links, but it's actually the same page. Also, you put Gustav
Klimt as your first Portfolio item, but I (that was my first impression)
thought that you are claiming that YOU ARE Gustav Klimt (which is a
nonsence). That might mean that you did not emphasize enough WHAT YOUR
SITE ACTUALLY DOES. You are doing website disign/development - make it
stand-out more! It is not clear from your home -page. So, work on
navigation - that is my thought.

Looking at the site in Firefox my first reaction is to want to drag it to
the left. Somehow being right aligned it feels uncomfortable - I wonder
why the white space on the left.

I was also a little puzzled why the title of the home page is 'about'.
When I click the home button I go back to about with home disabled and
vice versa. I can understand why you have done it but it seems a little
quirky.

I also seem to be doing a lot of scrolling (the page is long rather than

I would prefer if "set 1" were expanded by default, and if "set 1"
through "set 3" were presented as tabs on the same line, instead of
vertically, or if they were not present and the 3 sets were displayed
as a horizontal sliding ribbon. In essence, more of a pagination view
instead of disparate vertical blocks.

I'd appreciate your comments and suggestions on this site.

It's very nice - it's clean, the importance of graphic design/typography
shows in the design, and it exhumes a sense of proficiency. I notice that it
validates as HTML 5 too!

However - there is always a 'BUT' - for my taste it's lopsided! I would
prefer it if the 'content' (by which I mean the area where there is
something to see) was more central in the viewport - all sections except the
'portfolio' are too far to the right. The portfolio has more text on the
left and this balances it up a bit. This lopsided look is particularly
noticeable when one increases the font size 4+ times.

Just my 2p's worth. . .

O.K., now tell me you spent hours making the spacing work that way because
it's what you wanted!

So drag it to a 640 window?

Re: [WSG] :: makeready ::

2009-12-22 Thread Chris Price
I can see you are an artist. It looks like a website that's been designed by
an artist.

Looking at the site in Firefox my first reaction is to want to drag it to
the left. Somehow being right aligned it feels uncomfortable - I wonder why
the white space on the left.

I was also a little puzzled why the title of the home page is 'about'. When
I click the home button I go back to about with home disabled and vice
versa. I can understand why you have done it but it seems a little quirky.

I also seem to be doing a lot of scrolling (the page is long rather than
wide) and it took me a little while to understand what was happening with
the sets.

I hope this is helpful.
