You would need to upgrade to the latest Xastir CVS version which has
the code in it for handling OSM maps.
Try this for help on CVS:

Hi Kurt and to all...
I'm fully aware of CVS and the others mentioned. Would it be outside the
scope to include say an RPM.spec (fedora/suse) file and the Debian
directory into the CVS source tree ? or maybe create a second CVS source
to contain such ?

Certainly raster on top of raster at roughly the same size scale
w/o transparency involved is a useless proposition.

Would that be detectable in code?

Hosting a debian/ tree in CVS is a good idea. I do that with several of
my other projects.
But don't include it in the tar.gz ... I've learned that this makes life
a little difficult for Debian developers, since their packaging patch
relative to the tar.gz has a removal of the upstream packaging

Has anyone tried building a VMware version of the latest xastir from CVS with
some of these nice new features ? I have been watching the developments with
Lenny and Lucid packages which is great to see. I intend to try out some of
these in a while.
A VmPlayer would be good if anyone is still
Here's how you can - usually - build a deb package of a more recent version of
a program when there
already is an official package. The recipe works on Debian, Ubuntu and other
like minded Linux
distributions. All commands should be entered from a shell.
1. Get the essential tools for building
Just remember about Debian and *buntu - if there are three accepted ways of
doing something, Debian will come up with a fourth that is even more
complicated and totally incompatible with the other three. And then the *buntu
group will have to come up with a fifth just to one-up Debian.

Xastir users,
Keith sent me a message asking for some help getting county outlines to show
up with the Tiger/Line dataset. Once I wrote the dbfawk for this, I thought
it was worth sharing, since it's very nice to highlight when you don't have
the proper county maps turned on.

You can do the configure option I specified (configure -h will
show all options) or you can remove the devel package for libcurl.
You can leave libcurl itself

Lee,
We may have a problem...
When I click on the directional arrows above the map, it also zooms out.
The question is... is it Xastir... or... is it X?
I need to do a CVS upsate on the other system to see where the problem may be.

Are you using the .osm maps? If so, I'm not surprised. I'm working on
fixes for a number of zooming and scaling problems with OSM maps. Try
the .geo versions before reporting any problems.
