So I suggest trying one of the following:
1) use 1280x1024 mode: it's quite standard, and most likely the monitor
has been factory tested for it
OK, that's better
2) copy over the timings from your former system
I'll need to rescusitate a corpse for that.

Right - you switched to 16 bpp color depth first :) 163 MHz is the
default i810 value for this de
Hi All,
I have just run xfree86 configure and it says my card is not supported
but that I should send output of scanpci to the people at xfree86. Since
no address was given I have decided to turn to this list for help. Below
is the output from scanpci.
The relevant part I think is
pci bus 0x000
As for DacSpeed, I got this clock range (12.00 to 230.00 MHz) after setting
DacSpeed, before setting it I got 12.00 to 163.00 MHz.
I have also reset the sync/refresh rages to their original values, which
the following logfile should reflect.
And here is the entire /var/log/XFree86.0.log - tha

Hmm... Then it'll make a lot of sense to send the complete
XFree86.0.log, otherwise it'll be blind guessing.

The DacSpeed entry had no effect. (I tried it on your first recommendation.)
I have also tried changing my sync/refresh rates from
HorizSync30.0 - 115.0
VertRefresh 50.0 - 160.0
to
HorizSync30.0 - 90.0
VertRefresh 55.0 - 85.0
as suggested by someone else in the group

IIRC correctly that is an XFree86 v3.3.x *server* (dated 2000),
not an XFree86 v4.x driver.

OK, I have made some progess. I went to the Intel site and downloaded
the appropriate driver RPM for the 82815 CGC:
xfcom_i810-1.2-3.i386.rpm
This took care of modes greater than "1024x768". However, I am still
suffering from a horrible screen squiggle. Any ideas about these

Sorry, I'd forgotten
Your suggestion to change the modes entry in the XF86Config, I had already
tried before posting this. Adding this option crashes my X server. I will
include the entire contents of my XF86Config file below (thanks anyway):

I am having a configuation problem in the context of RedHat-8.0 (3.2-7)
Linux installation with a ViewSonic P815 using Intel 815 video card (4M
video RAM w/i810 driver) - and kernel 2.4.18-26.8.0.
I have attached the /etc/X11/XF86Config file for your inspection.
I am presently unable to get a
