The 865GV chipset was released after RH 2.1 AS, maybe for some reason it is

Anyway, there is a work around that Mark posted a while back.

Hi,
Using Xfree-4.3.99.10
I successfully launched xinit, xeyes, twm
Then when I launch my X application I the linuxbox hangs and I need to turn

I debugged my X application with gdb and noticed that the error was in the

Now, when I launch startx I get:

What should I do?

Hi,
My video card is GeForce 3 Ti 4200. My monitor is flat, 17 inch, LG E700B.
When I try startx command, xfree86 crash. Any idea??? Here's my xfree86 log.
I am running the latest release Debian.
Thanx you.

This seems to be a common Debian problem. Their setup utility
seems to want to use a framebuffer device, even though there isn't
one. Remove the UseFBDev option from the /etc/X11/XF86Config-4
file.

If you build the new QT releases (3.1.2 or later), the configuration
script mentions much more options available on normal linux systems.
It seems some of them are necessary to build a proper KDE environment

The nv driver that comes with XFree86 didn't support GeForce4
until XFree86 4.3. You either need to upgrade to XFree86 4.3,
or use NVIDIA's binary Linux driver which should work with your current
XFree86 version.
