usaer are stored in 2 different files (mailusers.tab smtpauth.tab). that
makes no sence for me .-)

I've been using Xmail 1.3 on linux for about 3 weeks now and I'm
very impressed.
I have a question regarding an easy setup. I am hosting a domain
that has one address ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) and all inbound email
to that address needs to be forwarded to the person's AOL account.

The difference between redirect and lredirect is that with redirect the
MAIL_FROM is the original mail from of the message, while lredirect uses
the current recipient as MAIL_FROM

with hylafax, that uses the command sendmail -t -ffax -oi.
you sendmail does not exit if you type the last .\n to end the email. If i
try that without -oi option, sendmail behaves right!

have to update both a main as a fallback is just a small hassle, and it is
something that can easily be automated by a script. To have xmail handle
this is automagically by quering the dns is to much, but I could be

You absolutely do _not_ need to do this. There's a script inside the
XMail's tarbal that is called sendmail.sh
You change the MAIL_ROOT there, you move the original sendmail in
sendmail.orig and you move sendmail.sh in /usr/sbin/sendmail
but if there is high LMAIL load, i guess it's not

In your case it might be the routing table but in my case it's not. I have
two interfaces on the same subnet, both can be used to send to any
destination except localhost but only one *should* be used my xmail.

$MAIL_ROOT is set to 700, but log files are automatically set rw-rw-rw-
by Xmail daemon.
if MAIL_ROOT is 700 and root.root owned, only root can access MAIL_ROOT and
files in it like the log files, so it doesn't matter which permissions the
files in there have ...
