This does not seem to be documented anywhere. Fortunately I've not yet
placed the large order for video cards and panels I'm working on and I can
get some more information.
So,

I get the source code for xlsclients (xlsclients.c) , when I compile

I don`t know where is defined the XmuClientWindow function
Your /etc/XF86Config is screwed up (see how it says "mode pool is
empty" ?). To boost your confidence 4.1.0 works great here on Inspiron
5000. Btw, check out ati.2 drivers from www.linuxvideo.org/gatos - these
provide Xv acceleration for your card.

That is a rather old version you're using. You should really try something
more recent as the XFree86 team is constantly improving things.

I have two problems with XFree86 3.3.2. My problem is that the cursor
won't appear on my screen. but you can use the mouse. You just can't
see the cursor. My video card is a S386C801/805 running the svga server.
problem no 2 When I use the s3 server it crashes my machine.
Thank you

Right, I guess I should rephrase my question as: of the various products
available, which performs best under Linux/XFree86 4.x through the DVI
port using GPL

You know that there is a bug in xfree 4.x.x that puts noise on
screen.
I have contacted Alan Hourihane (an xfree86 developer).
Please contact me to send him more detailed bug reports.
Thanks in advance.

Hi All,
I'm looking for a good mid-range (under $150) AGP video card with DVI-D
output. I'm interested in maximizing performance (2D and 3D, although
mostly 2D) under XFree 4.1.0 at 1280x1024 with open source drivers, no
binary-only modules. Any suggestions?

Has anyone successfully ran XFree 4.x on a Sun Ultra 5? I've posted a few
issues I ran into, and I'm still X-less on the machine. The operating
system I'm running right now is Linux, and I did see support for the Ultra
5 PCI bus within the source code.
Anyone have any ideas? I've read the mailin

Check the attached page.
The place to "play" with is under xc/config/cf.
It was very easy (based on version 4.1) and < 800k.

Well, there is no problem with restarting the Xserver anymore. Thanks to
the nvidia team!
But, on my i8k the Xserver crashes when switching back to VT7 where the
Xserver is running on.
Hi,
anybody got the latest Xfree 4.1.0 running on the Ati Rage Pro (Dell
Inspiron 7500)?
Looks like hsync is out of range, i.e. I have tons of :
..
(II) ATI(0): Not using default mode "800x600" (hsync out of range)
..
in my XFree86.0.log.
I also tried to run X with the "XFree86 -configure" XF86C
Hi,
I want to build a very lightweight X Windows. The X Server binary
+library should come within 8MB. Can anybody tell where I can get info
on which are essentials for a X Windows system and which are optional.
Is there any site which will help me to build X like that?
Regards,
Chirabrata
