Can't start Yojimbo - already running

2008-05-18 Thread Eric Hamburg
I just got my MacBook Pro back from Apple repair to replace a bad
system board. When trying to start up Yojimbo I get the following
message:

Yojimbo already running.
Only one copy can be running at a time.

I have looked at running processes in Activity monitor, but there is
no Yojimbo process running.

I have deleted the preference for Yojimbo
I have repaired disk permissions
I have cleared caches using Cocktail.
I have moved the state.plist file from the Application Support folder

None of these steps clear the problem.

Anyone know how to fix this?

I'm not sure ... I haven't tried this on my own machine ;-) but
without having Yojimbo running see if you have a file

/Users/YOU/Library/Application Support/Yojimbo/.ContentIndex.lock

and/or

/Users/YOU/Library/Application Support/Yojimbo/.Yojimbo.lock

They are not normally visible so you need to use the terminal or
tell Finder to list hidden files (or tell Path Finder to list
hidden files). If you move these files to another place, does
that help?

Re: Yojimbo already running - solved

2008-02-29 Thread Martin Rice
Just wanted to say that because I was in such a hurry, shortly after
posting this I wrote to Barebones support. I got a very rapid response
which included an AppleScript call Remove Yojimbo Lock Files. I ran it
and it solved the problem. I guess this script essentially does what
the terminal command sent in by Steve Kalkwarf (for which I thank him)
does.

Hope this might be of use to some other people on this list.

Martin

This typically happens if you backup data from a machine while
Yojimbo is running, and then restore that data to another machine.

Using the Terminal, issue this command:

rm ~/Library/Application\ Support/Yojimbo/.Yojimbo.lock

and you should be in business.
