[Zappa-List] When did Bald-Headed John appeared with Zappa?

2006-05-29 Thread myrtleedop
First time I have seen Zappa live was in the fall of '76, and I think I recall he was there... but am not sure. Was he on the road with FZ, as his bodyguard, from day one after the London Rainbow attack? Yahoo! Groups Sponsor ~-- You can search

That record IS addictive ain't it? And you know what drove my own son (was around 6 or 7 of age) nuts with nervous laughter on that CD? The coming-in of the kazoos in the percussion bash of Dupree's Paradise! It never failed!! --- In Zappa-List@yahoogroups.com, Carsten Jensen [EMAIL PROTECTED]

[Zappa-List] A suggestion: why not create a separate Vine sub-list?

2006-05-01 Thread myrtleedop
...in order to free bandwidth for the actual discussion (which is the announced purpose of the list). The vine threads, as exciting as these might be, eat up incredible amounts of space it seems to me! And no actual discussion seems to ever go anywhere because the threads go down so fast and

[Zappa-List] True that Johnny Otis conducted sessions for Hot Rats?

Philippe Manoeuvre says so in his latest entry for La discothèque idéale, in Zappa-friendly French mag Rock Folk (Issue of April? May? Forgot to check!!). Cool full page photo of Zappa circa 1970 with a camera in hand. Interesting anecdotes in the Hot Rats piece... but some sound a bit strange

[Zappa-List] The “3 doomed Warner Brothers LPs”: how do you think they REALLY sound?

I have brought this topic up in the past. But now I have gotten down to business and carefully compared the original USA Discreet LPs with the Spencer Chrislu mastered equivalent tracks from Lather. (I do not own the other individual CD versions, which are supposed to be mixed differently.)

Very interesting Milhouse481, thanks! I did not think Zappa would have used a given vamp more than once in a single show. The CD version of ZiNY shure is a strange thing anyway... I wish I knew the exact order those songs were actually performed. --- In Zappa-List@yahoogroups.com, [EMAIL

[Zappa-List] Has The Purple Lagoon solo section been extracted from Pound For a Brown?

2006-01-31 Thread myrtleedop
Hello there, I am referring of course to ZiNY (for both pieces). Even before I had heard the CD, I had always thought the familiar version of Lagoon sounded like it had an artificial edit in it, at those points. For further Z-related fun, please visit http://www.thebignote.com or
