I was unable to find any link for the pdf on the zappateers site but I recall the cover was done by Cal Schenkle. I could'a sworn there actually was a Vol.2, but I will defer to you sir. --- In Zappa-List@yahoogroups.com, "Marco Kalnenek" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > > This is just what I recall from reading various things but there were one > or two of these books of transcriptions in > > the 70s that I believe were produced with input from FZ, esp. as evidenced > in some of the amusing annotations > > There's only one of those, despite the "Vol. 1" in the title. > It can be found on Zappateers in PDF-format: > http://www.zappateers.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=3231 > > The one with transcriptions by Steve Vai is The Frank Zappa Guitarbook from > 1982: > http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Frank_Zappa_Guitar_Book > > Both titles are getting harder to find, but I was lucky enough to score (pun > intended) a copy of the Guitarbook at a record fair earlier this year. > > best wishes, > Marco Kalnenek > > http://www.weirdomusic.com > > Weirdomusic.com > PO Box 26 > 6400 AA Heerlen > The Netherlands > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > For further Z-related fun, please visit http://www.thebignote.com or http://www.killuglyradio.com , thank you.Yahoo! It can be found on Zappateers in PDF-format: http://www.zappateers.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=3231 The one with transcriptions by Steve Vai is The Frank Zappa Guitarbook from 1982: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Frank_Zappa_Guitar_Book Both titles are getting harder to find, but I was lucky enough to score (pun intended) a copy of the Guitarbook at a record fair earlier this year. best wishes, Marco Kalnenek http://www.weirdomusic.com Weirdomusic.com PO Box 26 6400 AA Heerlen The Netherlands [EMAIL PROTECTED] For further Z-related fun, please visit http://www.thebignote.com or http://www.killuglyradio.com , thank you.Yahoo! Or did FZ poot forth some of his own work in those books? Milhouse? Well, since you asked... ;c) This is just what I recall from reading various things but there were one or two of these books of transcriptions in the 70s that I believe were produced with input from FZ, esp. as evidenced in some of the amusing annotations (like the "Little Deuce Coup" / "she's a dirty young mind, corrupted corroded" section of "Brown Shoes" annotated tempo de Beach Boys). I would bet afka.net would have something about them, they have a pretty good listing of books by and about FZ and a huge collection of print interviews. --Milhouse **Life should be easier.
