Larry,
IMO the basis of all cultural and societal values and mores are practicality.
I think problems come in when the needs of the population changes but the
values and mores are too rigid to adjust to meet them.
I don't think any of these are 'noble', but in fact that the judgment of

Merle,
I mean liberty and security in a society are usually related in an inverse
proportion. The more liberty you have the less security; and the more security
you have the less liberty.
In other words the more laws the less liberty but the more security. The less
laws the more liberty but

Your definition is meaningless though and certainly not in accord with how most
people define 'God'. The universe works just fine without such a belief. Why

1- Life is suffering.
2- We suffer because we crave (want, desire, whatever)
It doesn't matter where you live or whom you live with. We can always chose
freedom through 'want' reduction. I'm a victim to. No need to remind me.

I agree most of what you posted here, but would like to add that most people
however choose security over freedom.

SPIRITUALITY AND RELIGION - ECKHART TOLLE
What is the role of the established religions in the arising of the
new consciousness?
Many people are already aware of the difference between spirituality
and religion.
They realize that having a belief system a set of thoughts that you

EGO: THE CURRENT STATE OF HUMANITY - ECKHART TOLLE
Words, no matter whether they are vocalized and made into sounds or
remain unspoken as thoughts, can cast an almost hypnotic spell upon you.
You easily lose yourself in them, become hypnotized into implicitly

THE ILLUSORY SELF - ECKHART TOLLE
The word “I” embodies the greatest error and the deepest truth, depending
on how it is used.
In conventional usage, it is not only one of the most frequently used

Very good video Merle. No leaders, equal men and female rights and

Merle,br/br/Maybe you could explain how having a belief in an imaginary

Thinking of future and future problems might create anxiety and stress.
However, that is not when the stress really originates.
Stress starts the moment you move away from now into the thought world

In moving away from now, you move away from life, you move away from

Yes. Japanese Satori is wholly founded on the belief that words are
nonsense to the gods. Logic, determination, will power, will do you little
good. A huge desire to 'know' is all that is required.
