After watching the flash demo on self-healing I thought I would try the
experiment myself. Instead of a mirror, i created a raidz pool made up of 9
disks. I copied a large file into the pool. Then, like in the demo, I
corrupted one of the disks with a dd command. I did the digest... I did the
Oops... my fault... I wasn't introducing enough corruption! My test file was
not at the beginning of the disk! Sorry for the wasted bandwidth...

Have you looked at using Oracle ASM instead of or with ZFS? Recent Sun docs
concerning the F5100 seem to recommend a hybrid of both.
If you don't go that route, generally you should separate redo logs from actual
data so they don't compete for I/O, since a redo switch lagging hangs the

Hello,
we set our ZFS filesystems to casesensitivity=mixed when we created them.
However, CIFS access to these files is still case sensitive.
Here is the configuration:

Just to add more details, the issue only occurred for the first direct access

the format command would only work on c0d1 and not c0d0, so then booted on the

How do you upgrade from version 5 to version 6, I had created this under snv_62
and it zpool called zones worked with snv_b63 and 10u4beta now under snv_b66 I
get error and the upgrade option does not work: any ideas?

I use an iSCSI disk mounted onto a Solaris 10 server. I installed a ZFS file
system into s2 of the disk. I exported the disk and cloned it on the iSCSI
target. The clone is a perfect copy of the iSCSI LUN and therefore has the
same zpool name and guid.

device.
And indeed when I try to use a zvol as both, I get:
zvol cannot be used as a swap device and a dump device
