[Zope-dev] MySQL (Zope) Problem on Sun Solaris machines ?
Hi Andy, and all ! I was developing a little webapp under Zope. I was using the following setup: Linux 2.4.x Zope 2.3.0 MySQL 3.22.32 ZMySQLDA-2.0.6 MySQL-python-0.3.5 Everything went smooth that way. Small SQL queries and complex SQL queries, queries on empty tables and on full ones, they all went well. Now I exported the website and dumped the tables structure. I the impoerted the website and created the tables on a: Sun Solaris (don't ask me what release) - Sparc processor. Zope 2.3.0 MySQL 3.23.32 (or 3.23.33, I am not sure) ZMySQLDA-2.0.6 MySQL-python-0.3.5 And this happened: Querying MySQL like this: -- show tables; -- or -- select * from data; -- all went ok. But running this statement on *empty* tables (mark you, just no data) left no python process running, they all died: -- select a.a b.b c.c from a b c where a.fk_b = b.pk_b and a.fk_c = c.pk_c order by a.a; -- It looks to me there is an uncaught NULL pointer exception deep down somewhere in the code Anyone hints or solutions ? [Zope-dev] Adding a property to a batch of objects ?
Hi,
I wanted to do sonething like this:
dtml-in "objectIds(['DTML Document'])
dtml-call manage_addProperty('foo','bar','string')
/dtml-in
But I am missing the part :-(
I can happily add the property to myself or the folder above (if a DTML
Method is used) but I just cant seem to be able to add the property to an
object I want.
Any suggestions ? I would be sooo hapyy, since I have to add three props
to about 1200 DTML Documents :-(

You might want to use dtml-in "objectValues(['DTML Document'])"
(or objectItems). then just say
dtml-call "manage_addProperty(...)"
or you might change the ... to
dtml-call "_.getattr(this(),_['sequence-item']).manage_addProperty(...)"
(hope this is right, have not tested it.)
First form directly builds a list of the objects instead of the
Ids, second form first looks up the id with _['sequence-item'] and
then looks up the object with that id in the local object (your folder).

Hello everyone, I need a quick hint. How do I check wether there are any "form" elements in the request. And how can I only acces those ? I want to pass those, and only thos on to a ZClient call to another website. We had a close look at all products available for sroting users in a sql db. We tested: GUF-- did not work with Zope 2.2.x (yet) MySQLUserFolder -- colleague of mine had some trobles o this thing being outdated UserDB -- works for us, but has some logical problem that has an impact on performance when having a lot of users. We will try to fix that asap. LoginManager -- thoug being called the best here is it did not yet work for us. We would like to get things started up with LoginManager but constantly fail to get it up and running. No if someone from France with fr prefs set in the browser the link would
change to fr/mainpage and all text would be taken from the french versions.
It is extremely powerful. The language directories can contain any kind of
object you can put in a folder - they are nothing special. Only the
translator is nessecary since it provides the dmtl-lvar method.
We have already created a german/english website using a bunch of squishdots,
metapublishers and whatnot without having big trouble. We had to change a
couple of products to use dtml-lvar instead of static text, but apart from
that

the parameter 'language' is available in the whole object tree.
Only text modules need to know how to react on this parameter.
Pages, images, navigation, templates etc. are not aware of the language
(though they may if needed, e.g. changing the layout)
So there in only one tree of pages, one set of navigation.
The text modules have syntax like:
dtml-if "getform('language') == 'nl'"De kracht van het werken met klein
team...
dtml-elseThe strength of working with a small team...
/dtml-if
Pages only contain references to text modules and the name of a template
to be used.

Furthermore you can "give" someone a copy of your default language folder and as him/her to translate it. This can be done in parallel without people having the need to change the original templates. Now if you do not like all the DMLT-Methods, you can simple create a e.g. en folder and use properties attached to that folder to hold your translations. If you do not like to have folders flying around, you can create them *inside* the translator. But please notice, you cannot have them outside as well as inside, the inside ones will always be the ones used, Translator will not seek any other folders once he found one. The translator itself has another way of storing translated text. It is accesible on the Translate tab inside the translator. IMHO the translator has a very clumsy interface there so I never used it. But it might be cool as well, since you could be able to export this data as XML and reimport it once it is translated. Anyway, whatever you do make shure you check it out and give yourself a day to waste on the translator to find out all possiple ways to play around. I had a lot of fun with it up to now and it works absolutely reliably. [Zope] MailHost: bcc broken ?
Hi all, I wanted to use bcc in a mail generated though a dtml-sendmail.../dtml-sendmail (Included in MailHost) tag. But it did not work. All I got was a junk line like this: subject: foo barbcc: user1, user2, user3 mark the missing carriage return and/or line feed between the subject and the bcc line. No way doing that halfway performant with a dtml-in ... /dtml-in statement. I am thinking of the bcc: user1, user2, user3 user4000 header. Hi Herbert, I have no clues regarding sybase, sorry. I am using a MySQL database which *can* run on the same or on a different host. But have you checked if there is a new Sybase DA on zope.org ? Furthermore, have you mailed this to the maintainer ? He/she might be interested in that you want to connect to a remote host. Maybe you will get what you want if you trigger the maintainter ... :-)) Can you switch to a different database ? If so, why not use MySQL or PostgreSQL ? There must be a mimimum of two and a maximum of three colon separated fields: 1. username of the manager 2. encrypted password of the manager 3. [Zope] SiteRoot (SiteAccess) bug ?
I am using a SiteRoot object since I am proxying my webpage through an apache. Everything works as expected (apart from some weird broken ziconimages with a Control_Panel/Products path e.g. SiteSummary and Tracker) Now if I view the Management screen trough the proxy and I am editing an object everything works as expected but the topmost link on that page linking back i.e. the breadcrumbs. Have you tried setting up your environment variables in your autoexec.bat und then just creating a link on your desktop calling the proper python interpreter with the correct python script ? Linux distributions come bundled with a bunch of "free" icons. [Zope] Translator package/project died or what ?
Hi everyone, especially J. David Ibáñez and Federico Di Gregorio :-) Since Federico did not reply to my mail I am posting this on the list to gain responses. We **need** a translator package for Zope. We will be hosting a site that will have the feature to "speak" different languages. So I got Translator-0.5.tar.gz from somewhere (do not ask me where, I forgot). Unpacked it and restarted Zope. The product is broken since it tries to import: from Shared.xmlio import XMLio But this is obviously not available (I tried finding it on zope.org and with google/altavista). The only available xml package is in DC.xml and is based on xmllib. Now here is the question: Does anyone have the XMLio stuff ? If so can this someone be so nice and either post the URL here or make it available and post the URL here ? Hi Vikas, it was kind of tricky ;-) First: Create DB/User/Password in mysql Then add a ZMySQLDA in your working folder and name it accordingly, make shure the id is unique and contains no spaces. The connection string is as follows: databasename[@hostname] username password Example: foo bar baz would connect to the database named foo on the "localhost" (local being local for zserver) with the username bar and the password baz. foo@here bar baz. would connect to the database named foo in the host named here with the username bar and the password baz. When creating/editing the grant tables for mysql make check whether you need to include the domainname (i.e. here.mydomain.com instead of just here). This was neccessary for my mysql server.
