Personally I think it would be great if groups like SeaBug and the Plone folks posted announcements about their meetings here.

Simply amazing how Python is being used in so many ways these days.

It's free! It's Open Source! It's awesome! Although to tell the truth, doing productions in Blender drew me to code, rather than vice versa. (AKA I'm a Python n00b.)

As someone who initially learned Maya backward and forward before learning Blender, it fixes a lot of Maya's systemic failings and, to be fair, has a handful of dubious UI choices. Production wise, I've used it for every part of the production process almost always as effectively as Maya, and often times more so.

If you guys wanna ever learn Blender, we meet every other month at Seabug. You can learn more at http://seabug.eventbrite.com

As someone who runs Seabug (Seattle Blender User Group)

So can you tell us a bit about Seabug?

Is Blender the OS equivalent of a Maya or ?????
