Devon,
I have installed compat-glibc-6.2-2.1.3.2, removed staroffice, and
reinstalled it again, specifying that I didn't want any java support.
After that, I reran ldconfig as root.
I have also modified the .office52/soffice script to include the
directory:
/usr/i386-glibc21-linux/lib
and echo the
LD_LIBRARY_PATH it sees when the executable is launched.
It still doesn't find everything it needs: the result (on more lines
for readability) is:
[marco@polaris marco]$ ./.office52/soffice
LD_PATH IS:
/home/marco/.office52/program:/usr/i386-glibc21-linux/lib: \
/home/marco/.office52/adabas/lib:/home/marco/.office52/adabas/lib:
/home/marco/.office52/program/soffice.bin:
/usr/i386-glibc21-linux/lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.2' not found
(required by /usr/X11R6/lib/libX11.so.6)

Any other clues?
