ok .. let  me  rephrase that.
I just powered up the machine,it goes through the boot process.
I have the login prompt in front  of me... i type  my  user name ( not  in  gnome ) 
at  this point no gui's  or anything  is started..std  prompt  in the  window 
I  type  my  name  my  pw.
Everything  looks fine.
I  type su  it  prompts me  for  the password i type it hit enter then the  warning.
At  that  point nothing  is running i havent  done  anything but login as su.

I have nothing  mandrake here.. i  never  seen this  before  this morning  which is 
the 
first time  i rebooted after the updates  yesterday afternoon.
