bash: no job control in this shell

I have discovered this too since the latest updates. No bug report
of mine yet since I'm running bash 2.05 from Raw Hide and this
is hardly reproducible.

Another thing has been mentioned on this list. Shortly after logging
into a virtual console, one typed character is lost *sometimes*. But
I don't know whether this is a good description or what happens
exactly. Typing "ps" <enter> gives "bash: p: command not found" and
hitting <enter> again executes the command or I have had
hallucinations. Typing "w" <enter> has failed a few times, too.
