I would certainly hope that Solaris supported CCID profile USB card  
readers.  You can get those for $20-30 from eBay.

For instance, item number 260288413629 right now.  (That's a valid  
model number, I have no other knowledge.  It's just a for-instance.)   
For that specific model you may need to upgrade the firmware to get  
CCID compliance.  The firmware updater is available from the  
manufacturers web site.
