You can get a PC/SC interface that'll work with CCID-compliant
USB readera if you install the PC/SC-Lite 1.1 package that can be
downloaded (free) from www.sun.com/downloads - look under the A-Z
index for it.

You'll need some "middleware" to make it useful, though - something
that sits between PC/SC and the screen lock, or whatever. I believe
there's an implementation of pam_pkcs11 under development, but you
still need a PKCS#11 implementation that talks to some sort of smart
card to do what you want (or roll your own).
