I like the idea, Alan. That may be just because I like this list so much. As
well as your verve in finding answers to impossible questions. ;-)

Other than that, I can't think of whether the idea would fly. Yes, I'm sure
there's a need, but what type of people would it cater to? Most yellow pages
are accessible online, so that could factor in somehow.

To digress a bit, I am in favor of any idea that makes searching easier. Some
of the newest search engines have associative features (i.e. you type a search
word, and it asks are you looking for this meaning or this meaning?). I think
the yellow page idea could be extremely helpful to a large audience. I'd like
to see the internet become more useful in helping people access local
resources (in the same way the yellow pages currently do). It's got a ways to
go.

My idea would be to take the results and incorporate them into a searchable
website of sorts, that is, if someone is looking for something the search
engine could tell them which headings to use based on pointers that are
suggested from the list. But that assumes that there would be many consistent
responses on the list.

Why don't you tell us more, Alan? Do you know of people who have trouble
finding things in the YP's? Who would your target audience be? SeekNFinders
are already pretty adept at finding things.

As per the message wherein you introduced the idea, I assume you also have in
mind helping people contact government agencies and other sources of local
information.

Well, let's hear more about your idea....

Ed
