I really see selenium recorder/selenium test editor as a great tools as a non techee user could write his test based on a preview (static html) of the app. For what concerns your specific locators, I know that you can integrate them in selenium test editor quite easily (use the source), although I agree with mike that labels tend to change and it may be better to use locator like id=....., if those id are well specified for each pages.
