The only reason you need a timing light, is to actually measure how much you
advanced your timing. You dont need to say "oh my timing is advanced to -17
degrees". Just because you don't have a timing gun to measure how much you
advanced, doesn't mean you won't get the performance gain everyone else
does. As long as your engine is not pinging, you really dont need to know
exaclty how much you advanced it.
