when you do the timing follow than Nissan manual specs on how to do it. You
simply warm the engine up to operating temp, hold the gas for 2 minutes at
2000 rpm, after that let off the gas, rev it 3 times to 2000 rpm and shut it
off, unplug the TPS and start it up, you may trouble keeping an idle, but I
just reved it a little until the computer takes over. It runs really low rpm
without the TPS connected because it is not measuring the throttle relative
position. Its reading only the airflow meter. Now hook up the timing light
and look at the crank pully and read the #'s. I read the timing marks from
the drivers side so I can turn the distrib easily and told the tming light on
the spot. looking fromt the passenger side of the car the tming marks will
read -5 0 5 10 15 20
' ' ' ' ' '
Looking from the drivers side its reversed 20 15 10 5 0 -5
' ' ' ' '
'
I advanced mine to 15, to do this loosen the bolts on the distrib
and turn the distrib until it hits the 15 mark. carefully tighten the outer
bolt slowly not the move the setting and keep the light on the mark to varify
the 15 degrees. Thene tighen the bolts good and snug and then check the mark
again, if good, then turn motor off reconnect he TPS and start it up, Its
pretty simple. Always use 93 + octane when advanced to prevent detonation.
Email me privately for more info. The specs are in Nissans
1992 maunal that i have EF & EC-231.
