As I have posted before, my foot is almost always on the gas peddle. If
I run the hell outta a tank of gas, mixing highway & in town, the worst
my milage gets is 340 miles to a tank.
Before moving to Mass, I was averaging around 430-450 miles a tank for
pure highway miles (made the trip from Ark to Mass 4 times before moving
up here). I believe that makes the milage somewhere around 36 mpg. Every
time I refilled, I put about 12-12.5 gallons in, and I made most of the
trips with the AC on.
My car has just gotten new wires, plugs, fuel filter, and is getting a
rotor and cap this weekend. With winter's onset coming (along with the
snow), I'm looking forward to these same figures again.
Anyone getting any less than this has got issues. My car is a
maintanance nightmare. Until joining this list, I thought that I was
taking care of my car pretty good. Now that I know the difference, I'm
actually seeing the light now. My suggestion to all of you that are not
getting proper gas milage is to search through the archives and see what
needs to be done to your car to get it back up to par.
These little engines of ours may not be able to take out a 'Vette, but
passing the 'Vette while he is refueling and you still have half a tank
left....well, there's a certain amount of pride there.
