I have never gotten less than 36 MPG from mine and I always use regular
unleaded (87 octane). It is a 94 XE, GA16DE, 5-speed with 111,000 miles. If
I run the air, I will get 36-38, but with the air off, I get 38-42 (and I
live in the mountains). Typically, when my fuel gauge gets to 1/2 tank, I am
showing about 240 miles, and at 1/4 tank I am showing 350-375 miles. Most of
this is highway (75/25), but not interstate and does involve a lot of stop
and go. As for how you can get 12.5 gallons in a 12 gallon tank, the tank
capacity is figured on just the tank only...this does not include the filler
neck. The way I calculate my MPG is: fill up completely until it is about to
run over, drive, then fill up AT THE SAME STATION AND SAME PUMP, then divide
miles driven by gallons used. It makes a big difference if you re-fuel from
a different station or pump because not all stations are level and this can
cause you to get a difference in how many gallons it can hold.

>damn i don't get how you guys are all claiming to get 30+ mpg out of your
>car? One thing, I thought the sentra's gas tank is only 12 gallons. How can
>you fill up to 12.5gallons? What is your method of calculation. On my brand
