If you think about it, he's right. If you consider performance gains versus
price, he's right. First of all, consider this. He is comparing different
engines in the same model, so we will not talk about getting a 300ZX TT
versus getting a SE-R. We will strictly stay within same bodies.

First of all, this was one of the reasons why I sold my 200SX. Considering
I would have had to spend close to 4 grand just to make it run 14's is not
my kind of deal. I can spend less than 1 grand on my SE-R and will run
14's. The Integra LS is good for turboing. The GS-R isn't as good for
turboing. Your choice. If you want to do strictly all motor, GS-R is car
of choice. Don't even get me started on the V6 Mustang. It is a POS. The
SOHC Vtec Civic is not that great of a motor. It does well for what it was
designed for, just like the GA16DE. Why do you think people do so many
motor swaps in the Honda crowd? They might as well if they want any REAL
performance out of the car. For example, in the SE-R's case, it is much
more economical to swap in a DET motor than to try to go all motor and try
to get big HP numbers. David Coleman's statement applies here as well. We
can take it as, anybody willing to spend big bucks on a SR20DE motor, might
as well go turbo. You get far more power gains for the same amount of
money.

I don't think he was trying to say the GA16DE engine was a piece of crap.
He was just stating what was more economical and more practical.
