To answer your question, NOS is not worth it in terms of autoxing.  To rehash
what Terrin posted, there aren't that many straights, if at all on an autox
course.  Your suspension is going to help you more than anything else on the
car, aside from driver skill.  

To give you an example of how much driver skill is a factor, during the SF
Region champ season this past year, in Street Touring, first place was a driver
piloting an Integra GS-R (with all the mods allowable in that class, and ended
up going to the Nationals too!)  Second place was an old '86 Civic Si
hatchback.  Stock 200k motor (around 70hp.)  His biggest advantage over
everyone else was that the car weighed about 1900lbs, and other than driver
skill, that was his ONLY advantage.
