Actually, I do not believe that cams are legal (as well as underdrive pulleys)
for any Street Prepared class, and those classes have crazy fast cars! Your
best bet would be Street Modified or any similar class, depending on which SCCA
region you belong to. I autoxed in Street Touring-Rookie this past year, not
realizing that cams were illegal... Luckily, I didn't finish out the season and
I ended up finishing 8th in points. This coming season, I'll be going into
Street Modified-Rookie (added brake lines, and NX2K brakes since then, and
didn't compete in enough events last year.)

Budget shouldn't have anything to do with getting his booty spanked, unless he
can afford to attend enough events.

Lots of money to attend the events, and to travel to the National Solo
Championships... However, driver skill is the biggest overall factor.

Agreed! Had I known I was going to autox, I probably would have limited my
mods so that I can compete in Street Touring, or even E-Stock (although, I
think 200SX SE-R's and the other SR20 cars have since moved on to G-Stock.)
