1991 Sentra E - GA16DE - 90,000 miles
As the subject states (Good 'Ol Smokey) - My baby smells like she's
burning oil, puffs clouds of white smoke from her exhaust, and sounds
like she's struggling to run upon acceleration. At idle she just
smokes... Within 3 weeks she guzzled four quarts of oil, and upon
starting her last week, did not light the OIL PRESSURE light. I added
couple quarts of oil, OIL PRESSURE light came back on, I proceeded on my
way, but ended up loosing power, sounding like a lawn mower, using my
SECRET 007 SMOKE SCREEN TO BLIND TRAFFIC FOLLOWING ME, and driving back
home with my flashers on :(
I rarely post to this list with advice, just problems (sorry). I am
tired of being a list member with a lack of mechanical experience. I
plan to change this! I will be purchasing another car soon, but plan to
KEEP my Sentra (my hands-on experience). I do have friends who have
rebuilt car engines, and know quite a bit about maintenance - they are
sometimes hard to reach (especially now!!!! - Merry Xmas and Happy New
Year). For now I am car less - BUS PASS IN HAND!!!!
I have often thought - wouldn't it be nice if we could have clubs in
each State/Providence where we could help out fellow list members/Sentra
owners with problems/maintenance/repairs. I know I've seen it happen
before with a few list memebers. Anyone in the Maryland/VA area?
Anyway I'm ranting on...
Any suggestions as to the problem? I can pretty much figure out that it
might be oil or some other type of contaminant getting into the cylinder
and being combusted. Any help would be appreciated... Its time to start
learning hands-on instead of just reading.
