Kevin:
Sounds like Good 'Ol Smokey is a goner and its time for a complete engine
rebuild or replacement. Glad to read your planning on keeping your Sentra, I
don't think you'd get much by trading it in anyway on a new (er) Sentra. 90 K
miles may seem like a lot of miles but on a Sentra thats been taken care of
its just getting broken in, LOL . I had a 87 that I bought new and I took
super good care of it and I drove it for
over 500,000 miles,it got to the point I was afraid it was going to brake
down on me and leave me stranded someplace. I did replace a lot of parts like
the water pump, fuel pump, timing belt, brakes, clutch, pressure plate, throw
out bearing, starter, alt.,fan belts, battery, right front axle, tires and
other parts I can't remember right now but nothing was ever done to the
inside of the engine or transmission so what I'm saying is if you'll take
care of them (Sentras) they will last for a long time or at least mine have
for me, I've got a 97 I bought new and its got over 130K on it right now,
I've done a few mods to it and I autocross it and its still holding up fine.
So hang on to 'Ol Smokey and do what you need too to the engine or get a new
(er) car.
Good Luck in what ever you decide to do with it.
