I'm sure it still lets air through, but it's blocking air that you would rather
have if the car isn't turbocharged.  Need I remind you of the sub-par cooling
systems of our cars?  It's mainly a water pump thing (cavitation), although I
don't know if the water pumps on the GA16 also have the tendency to cavitate at
high rpm.
