I worked as the 'unofficial' Sepsis coordinator at both campuses of our hospital for 2 + years. I was full time, but had other duties assigned as well. In that time we drastically reduced our sepsis LOS as well as our mortality rates. There was requests made by our physician groups to make this a full time position, but it was not in the budget. However, I firmly believe that there could have been even more of an impact made if this had gone through. There was just never enough time to educate all of the nursing staff.
