I agree, but you'll find the same problems with file greater than 2GB: they are not supported by all the filesystems ;-) Other filesystems will limit the maximun number of files per directory, and so on...
Btw, we're not removing dbfiles or files repositories, I'm just trying to make db repositories to work fine with big files (when the underlying db correctly support streams) and this can be achieved only via jdbc streams. You can keep using dbfiles, as you already did (I also improved this scenario by altering the default "file" stream repositories to provide sharedinputstreams).
