I've been using the thin drivers because it requires almost zero setup. With the OCI's
you have to install SQL-Net on each machine.

Hi Madhu,
We are developing an Intranet application using servlets.
Our configuration is as follows:
Servlet Engine: Jrun2.3
Web Server: Netscape Enterprise Server
Browsers : Netscape 4.0 and above or IE 4 and above.
Database: Oracle8.0
Both Web Server and Database will be residing on Solaris 2.6
We are not able to decide whether we should go for Type 2(OCI ) driver or
Type 4 driver. We donot have any prior experience on both of these drivers. I've
worked only with JDBC-ODBC bridge. Can u please give us some details on the
performance and advantages-disadvantages for these 2 drivers.
Regards,
RVS
