No one is forcing you to go the next revision of the Servlet API
(2.3).
How many people are still using the 2.0 version of the Servlet API?
Everybody still running JServ and that's an awfull lot of people.
They're servlets haven't stopped working just because we issued a new
version of the API that breaks the 2.0 version...
The reason is that the servlet engines supporting old versions will
be around for a long while yet.
And remember... you don't have to write your servlets with any "new"
methods.
It's just a questiomn of the new API providing some new features
(that we've needed for ages) and any server that is going to support
the API must utilise JDK1.2.
