And the documentation for J2EE is a separate 8.5 MB (!) download.  She
probably missed it.

As for compiling on the command line, JDK 1.3 will not compile servlets
unless you have added the servlet package files (in servlet.jar) and have
them in your classpath.  These files are included with J2EE.

You will have to set several environmental variables for Tomcat and J2EE to
work: TOMCAT_HOME, JAVA_HOME, FORTE_HOME and J2EE_HOME.  This is all in the
documentation.
