If you set a variable in system applet, you do not
need to reboot. You just
need to close and reopen the application.

Subject: Re: [OT]Java path in Win2K
I've run W2K since the beta 1 release and if you set
an env variable in
the
command prompt, it's immediately available for
applications using the
same
instance of the command prompt. Open another window
and you do not have
access to the variable. Set it in the system applet
and you have to
reboot
before it's available because the variables only get
loaded into system
memory on start-up. Why do you think Microsoft forces
you to reboot
after
installing software?
Cheers!
Mark
