I suspect you're talking about my response.  FWIW, it wasn't directed
personally at you (that's why I said "C'mon, people"), it just
happened to be in response to your post.  Remember, there had been
like 20 posts in two separate threads about dates.

OK, if you really feel you need to answer the question, get it *to*
the programmer, only the programmer, and not the list.  (FWIW, I'm not
sure I'd call someone a "programmer" if they can't find a better way
to get that information than post to a totally inappropriate,
irrelevant list.)

I disagree (strongly) that the best way to handle off-topic posts is
to just accept them with as little fanfare as possible.  In this case,
accepting them really does encourage them.  A little self-policing can
be productive and help keep the focus.  Let's not let the list be
hijacked.
