Sun says:
"After discussions with customers and partners we've improved how
people can evaluate SGD...
We can now provide customers with a license key for whatever number
of users they need, and for the length of evaluation they need. We
simply need to know:
how long the evaluation period should be?
how many users you need?
e.g. "we'll be looking at this over the next 60 days, and will test
with a user population of 1000."
This customer-focused approach allows the customer to evaluate the
product on their own terms and in their own timescales."

No it's not. It's listed as "4.2". The correct version is
4.2.XXX where
XXX is the build number. Since Sun doesn't release actual patches
for SGD
but instead rebuilds the whole thing. The only way to find out
what the
latest build is, is to download it. (or wait for someone to post
about the
new release here or on the Sun SGD forum group)
Fair point - I'll chase this up.
I think Sun at least owes the public an explanation of why the
change to
SGD's licensing model.
I'll chase this up too - customers would have rec'd an explanation
at the time and I thought something had been posted to the list.
Let me get an official response and get it posted here.
