Okay, I've set up the channel on Pibb, and asked the JanRain guys to
set up the relay bot, which they should do in a couple of days
hopefully. You can get to the channel with this link: https://pibb.com/go/shoes
And you can embed the chat doodad in to other pages using this embed
code:
<div style="height:400px;" id="__pibb_thread"></div><script src="https://pibb.com/widget/thread/1F31
"></script>
The Pibb system doesn't make use of flash, so that script is probably
writing an iframe and a bunch of other javascript in to the page.
You'll need an OpenID to use Pibb, but don't worry if you haven't
heard of that. You probably already have one. For instance, all AOL
and Yahoo! user's do.
For IRC users, once the relay bot is working, you should be able to
use Pibb without signing in as a channel archive, as messages on Pibb
are persistent and searchable. When pibb user's talk in the channel
after the relay is set up, you'll see a user called Pibb_Relay
forwarding their messages each way.
Pibb is however approaching abandonware. Through the grapevine, I have
heard that the company who runs it has lost interest in maintaining it
in to the future, so, if it works, great, otherwise, no great loss. :)
