Cub,

Correct you are, and as you point out, it is individual preference limited by the range of our knowledge and individual ethics.  I guess that I feel open enough that if a club suits my customers needs and improves his game or enjoyment of the game, then I will build it for him.  I don't hunt down a club because it is a "knock-off" (deference to Al's selection of descriptive term), but if it works for the guy then I would make it for him.  I might try and educate him as to the facts that the "knock-off" might not be all it seems to him, but his persistence would get me to try some clubs that inherently I would not produce otherwise.  If the component infringes on the Trademarks of an OEM, again I would not    If the components are from suppliers that produce shoddy inconsistent products, I would definitely refuse to make it.  If it is on the short list of products that are known to be outlawed by the OEM guys, I won't make it.....don't need lawsuits here.  End result is what helps improve his game is fair game for me if it is legal and a quality component.

Funny thing, tonight "The Amazing Race" went through your neck of the woods, Oahu and Kauai.  Spent some time at Hickam and Wheeler 1963-67 and spent leave time on Kauai, Maui, and the "Big Isle"  Christmas in the Islands .... great surfing this time of year and missing snow at Christmas other times while I was there.

Oh, by the way, just finished "cloning" 28 W2K Pro computers today in a High School Lab and two W2K servers using the Ghost Enterprise software package.  But that "clone" is a "good thing"!

Dr. Voo,

You understood my point and I understand what you are saying as well. The understanding and intent is individual. I know there are only so many ways to make a clubhead. At some point in time there can't be a clubhead made that doesn't utilize a characteristic of a previously made head. I just will not build a "look-a-like" when that is what is requested. I also won't use a clubhead that I feel too closely resembles the trade dress of a currently, or previously, hot market head. I just don't need to.

Peace Brah!
