The entry level Mitchell is a good unit for the clubmaker who has a bit of time and doesn't have to make clubs for a living.  Mine was bought used from another ShopTalker (Jacques Interre) and will last me the rest of my career.

John sells the mother of all shaft pullers (made by our own Richard Kennedy) for not much more than you'll pay for a used Mitchell.

Ron

Scott and Ron, are the 2 shaft pullers mentioned by Scott decent pullers? I
am also in the market for a good inexpensive shaft puller.

Thanks,

Slippage isn't a problem if you remember to change the rubber jaw liner
at regular intervals. I use 3/8" fuel line hose that I buy at Canadian
Tire by the foot. Cheap replacements, works very well.

I've been using the Tflan homebrew shaft puller for the last couple years,

and it has worked pretty well. The problem is that the vise I built it for
is questionable, and access to the materials to rebuild it is no longer
there for me. So, I'm in the market for a shaft puller. I'm trying to keep
the price at a minimum, and Mitchell has their 2001 models on clearance.
The pro model that was normally $169 are $119, and the original model that
was normally $139 are now $89.

Anyone have any good or bad things to say about these. If I remember,

these models seemed to have a problem with slippage.

Thanks,

Scott
