If they're Ping Eye 2's there is no plastic logo and there's no slanted
hosel. They're just plain old Pings. Taper tip - unless they've been bored
out. If your swing speed with a 5-iron is 88 - 93 you probably should be
looking at something firmer than 4.5 Rifles and perhaps even shafts that are
a little heavier as well. If 5.5's aren't satisfactory - they're not
particularly "stiff," and you have a clubmaker who will install shafts to
test. And, if you have a "club builder" to work with who knows his stuff no
doubt he'll have some suggestions as well. He should be able to easily
determine whether the hosels have been altered. You should also have him
check lie angles, club lengths, grip size, etc. It sounds to me as though
there's more of a problem than with shafts if you're hitting only a couple
of greens per round.

Finally, and I hate to mention this but any clubmaker worth the name will
ask these questions immediately; what's your handicap and how do you hit the
ball on the driving range? How far do you hit the "average" 5, 6, or 7 iron?
How long have you been playing? Have you ever played better than you do now,
and by how much? How was your swing speed measured and what was the average
of say 15 swings? There are other "interview" questions that could and
should be asked and answered honestly before even attempting to reshaft a
set of clubs.
