Mark,

I have had similar problems in the past and recently purchased a ferrule removal tool from Golfsmith for about $10.00. You put the club in your shaft puller tool, slide the ferrule removal tool over the shaft and the puller pushes it down into the ferrule and it cuts into the ferrule. You just peel away the rest of the ferrule. Much easier than doing it with a hook bladed knife and you don't have to worry about marking up the clubhead.

Ok, I know this ought to be pretty simple,. but I'm looking for a better way of removing ferrules. I have been using a razor knife to just cut them off, but a couple of weeks ago my knife slipped and I took a big chunk of paint out of a Taylor Made 580 driver I was going to reshaft for a friend of mine. Luckily, he hits the club so much better now that he doesn't mind quite so much. But I do, so how do you guys do it so that you know you're not going to do the same thing? This isn't the kind of mistake I want to repeat.

Thanx,
Mark
