Al:
Arnies' vice grip trick is a nifty way to save the specialized, relatively pricey ferrules from TM, Callaway and others. Not worth it on cheapo ferrules.

Mark,
I have read the responses and it really isn't that hard. Clamp the shaft. Take your grip knife and lay it flat on the shaft. Push into ferrule towards the head. Rotate shaft as necessary and repeat. Pops off nicely. You can, if you want, soften it with a heat gun but I do it cold and have no problems. Don't think I have nicked a shaft in thousands.

Ok, I know this ought to be pretty simple,. but I'm looking for a better way of removing ferrules. I have been using a razor knife to just cut them off, but a couple of weeks ago my knife slipped and I took a big chunk of paint out of a Taylor Made 580 driver I was going to reshaft for a friend of mine. Luckily, he hits the club so much better now that he doesn't mind quite so much. But I do, so how do you guys do it so that you know you're not going to do the same thing? This isn't the kind of mistake I want to repeat.

Thanx,
Mark
